Dorchester Youth Collaborative is established
1981
Founded by Emmet Folgert and others, it is located at 1514 Dorchester Avenue. Its purpose is “to serve the most at risk youth of Boston – teens who live in neighborhoods with high rates of violence, unemployment, and social instability, and who are more likely to become involved in the criminal justice and social service systems without interventions and support.” The center closes temporarily due to the coronavirus pandemic, but merges with MissionSAFE to become Safe City Dorchester at MissionSAFE and reopens on June 29, 2021.
